We have been looking at natural disasters in science. It was interesting to discuss the different types of disasters and if they are classified as natural or manmade or a combination of both.
We have looked at geological, meteorological, hydrological and a combination of these causing disasters.
We also discussed the make up of the earth (inner core, outer core, mantle, crust) and the tectonic plates. After discussing the different boundary types (transform, divergent and convergent) we used Oreos to represent them. The cream layer represented the asthenosphere and we broke the the biscuit level up to represent the tectonic plates. We then used these to demonstrate the movement either slide past each other, move towards each other and move away from each other.
...........Then we got to eat them!
We are a year 6 class of amazingly talented people. Have a read and enjoy some of the awesome things we can up to in the name of learning!
